The year is moving quickly and we have been busy creating many exciting projects!

Here is a sneak peak of a couple of our favorites:

Working with Ron Steinman and the talented staff at Quarto has been an eye-opener.
Ron brought us a sensitive, human and humble approach to the war in Vietnam entitled The Soldiers' Story, where we had the opportunity to design and illustrate with over 550 images from the National Archives in Maryland.  Publication will be October, 2015.

​A beautiful new origami gift-kit is due to be published soon, Traditional Japanese Origami, with Nick Robinson's folds and artwork and 80 gorgeous papers. This original gift package will be ready for Fall 2015 crafting fun and holiday gift-giving. The package comes with two elastic ties that collect and hold the instruction book and 4 envelopes of beautiful patterned origami folding papers.

We are expanding on the two food kits on-line (Home-Baked Bread and Gourmet Pizza Made Easy), with Dessert Party. This new kit brings a sweet addition to our easy, step-by-step cooking kits and comes with a cupcake stand, a cake-pop stand, cookie cutters, piping bags and tips, and cupcake papers; the kit is filled with ideas and excitement for every level baker. Another project on our agenda is the Creative Gift Wrapping kit, including a book with step-by-step instructions for every kind of present, 7 patterns of wrapping paper, 3 ribbon spools and gift tags.  The book illustrates how to beautifully wrap your gifts and presents, no matter how large or small. And finally, our origami series is expanding too! We are creating several products for both beginning and advance flyers of paper planes, and have a new set of Origami Kimono Patterns, 250 sheets, for Sterling Publishing . These are just a few of the many items that we have in store for this exciting year.

We've been busy this year, and blessed too! (This means our website hasn't gotten the consistent attention it deserves)!  We've expanded and now house a full-time designer and we're moving into new offices next week in a terrific neighborhood.  Best of all, we're working on new exciting book-based projects for the coming year: a cookbook + kit filled with Tasty Treats and A Year of Paper Planes, to name a couple!

Home-Baked Bread is in stock! It's very exciting to see this on the tables for sale at Barnes & Noble stores everywhere.  

Amazing Paper Planes is around the corner on the other side of the table and ready for take-off!

We met many new publishers (new to us, but long in the publishing industry….), and we re-kindled spirits with other publishers who we are developing projects with. The Speed-Dating event gives a packager the chance to present new concepts and ideas to a targeted audience, be they the gems of a manuscript idea or a finished concept in a completed gift box.  With 15 minutes to introduce yourself, your book+ idea and make plans for lunch after Frankfurt, it was just the right amount of time to become acquainted with Baker & Taylor, Dover-Adult, Quirk, Race Point, Readerlink, Rizzoli, Silver Dolphin, St. Martins, Thunder Bay, and Watson-Guptil (only a few of the publishing participants!), all of which proved fascinating and provocative.  We have a lot of work ahead of us, following up with all the great concepts that were flowing in the room that night!  What an honor to attend this terrific event.

A big thank you to everyone who stopped by the Hourglass Press booth, it was wonderful to spend time with you all: authors, artists, illustrators, publishers, collaborators, agents, friends, new relationships, long-lost pals. What a fantastic time indeed!

Origami Paper, by Rob Wall, was a hit.  This boxed set holds 200 stunning paper squares of Kimono patterns and jewel-toned solids, and the instruction sheet folds into a Samurai Helmet. Fabulous Shoes, 20 Paper Creations to Make and Adore, by Francine LaSala and Heather Drake, launched at Mothers’ Day and continues to ignite many a shoe-dream afterward.  Everyone agreed that after hours of digital devotion, we all want to get together with each other and eat or celebrate, and Hourglass Press’ products on cooking and  crafting were ‘on pointe’ and top-shelf.  It was quite wonderful feedback to receive, we are humbled.  Thanks again!
